Wow that deserve a prize or something and why I suggested we might not want to do open enrollment for open till this has calmed down oppo getting exposed to that many people might just ruin it, but ya never know. Not trying to be selfish just think the trolls would come rolling deep.

It's amazing how big this whole story is. I thought my Hollywood Stuntz post was big with 53,000 hits, but F40LM's post is well on it's way to a million hits in a few more days.

Oppositelock really gives us a lot of opportunities to share information with the world... if anyone cares enough to click on it.

Does beg the question if people don't try too hard (lets be honest, they do try too hard) to get noticed at the risk of turning this into SRSBIDNESS town.

I've had more luck in the industry by just talking to owners than I would ever have writing. But its not a end game so its not the top of the priorities.

Some definitely do but on the other hand there are some great things that have been posted here. Yes it's different than in used to be but I don't think Oppo will lose its off-topic side. It's just gained another aspect, not ditched its former purpose.

This story is huge right now, and we Oppo authors are just as much at the forefront of investigative journalism as the biggest names in the biz. Gawker is a widely-recognized multi-million dollar media powerhouse, and the privileges we've been given shouldn't be taken for granted. Ideally, we would all be using lede images from places like Wikimedia commons, seeking out primary sources, cross-referencing our sources, proofreading, and all that good stuff.

Heh, mine aren't typically that high. I think the highest I've gotten is maybe 8,000, probably less. I've just been [semi-]consistently been doing the 'Best of Oppo' since May and that's racked up a lot of views.
